In three weeks, Bruges launches its winter programme Winter Glow, known in Dutch as Wintergloed. On Friday 20 November 2026 the Christmas markets open in the city centre. They run until 3 January 2027 inclusive.
For owners in and around Bruges, this is one of the strongest periods of the winter. If you check your calendar now, you still have time to adjust prices and rules. This article covers what is confirmed and how to prepare in practice.
What is confirmed
The official Visit Bruges website lists two Christmas markets in the city centre, on the Markt and the Simon Stevinplein. They are open from 20 November 2026 to 3 January 2027 inclusive.
Opening hours are 11:00 to 22:00 from Sunday to Thursday, and 11:00 to 23:30 on Friday and Saturday. On New Year's Eve they stay open until 03:00.
The programme is wider than the markets alone. Visit Bruges mentions, among other things:
- a covered ice rink, IJsgloed, in the Koning Albert I park, with a winter bar;
- The Winter Giant, a winter figure that visitors can help build;
- winter decorations and thousands of lights across the city;
- several car-free shopping days;
- the Handmade in Brugge MAKERSmarkt, from 18 to 20 December inclusive, in the Town Hall.
On the end date of the wider festival, the Visit Bruges pages contradict each other. Build your planning on the dates of the Christmas markets, which are clear.
Which guests to expect
A Christmas market mainly attracts guests for a short trip. Think of couples, friends and families who stay a weekend or a few days. Many want an evening out and a warm place to come back to.
That is why Friday and Saturday are the key days. The markets are open longest then. A home that is free on Friday evening is the most useful to weekend guests.
Price and minimum stay
Look first at your own calendar from past years, not at a general rule. Which weekends booked up quickly, and which stayed open until the last moment? That tells you more than any article.
A few rules of thumb do help:
- Do not leave the weekends between 20 November and 3 January on the standard price. Demand is higher than on an ordinary winter day.
- Consider a two-night minimum stay for Friday and Saturday. That way no single nights are left over.
- Keep a more flexible rule on weekdays. Guests arriving on a Monday often look for a quieter, better-value stay.
- Fill gaps between two bookings with a short, sharply priced night rather than leaving them empty.
- Open your calendar for the new months in good time. Guests often plan a Christmas market weeks ahead.
At YourDomi, pricing is adjusted daily on market data. The price follows demand rather than a fixed seasonal rate.
Access and parking
During Winter Glow, the city mainly wants to limit car traffic in the centre. Visit Bruges announces free park-and-ride facilities and a discount on De Lijn public transport. The discount applies on weekends from 21 November to 3 January inclusive and every day from 21 to 25 December.
This is useful information for your guests. State in your welcome message how to reach the centre and where best to park. Check the conditions of De Lijn and the city for the details, as they can differ from day to day.
Does your home have private parking, or is it within walking distance of the Markt? Put that at the top of your listing. For a guest planning a busy weekend, it weighs heavily.
Crowds, noise and neighbours
More visitors means more traffic and more evening noise in the centre. Remind guests of your house rules on quiet after 22:00 and on arrival and departure. Anyone arriving late should be able to get in without stress.
At YourDomi, every guest receives a code of their own per stay through a smart lock. A late arrival after dinner at the market is therefore no problem, and nobody has to wait with a key.
Your home in winter condition
Guests come for the atmosphere. So check a few things before the first weekend:
- heating and hot water work without noise or delay;
- extra blankets and towels are ready;
- the entrance and pavement are safe in icy weather;
- a short list of tips for the town is in the home or in your digital guest guide;
- cleaning between two stays is scheduled for the changeover day, Sundays included.
At YourDomi, our own cleaning team, with a fixed checklist and photo check, makes that last point reliable. The home is ready for the next arrival, even when changeovers follow closely.
Why start now
The period is long enough to make a good season, but short enough for mistakes to be felt. A weekend you leave empty cannot be made up. Check your calendar this week, set your prices and minimum stay, and write a welcome message with practical tips.
Would you like YourDomi to take this off your hands for your home in Bruges or on the coast? The rental always stays in your name, so reviews and reputation remain yours. You can request a personal proposal.
